Aspire Credit Union awarded its annual high school scholarship to Mattison Balas, a graduate of Minot High School. The $1,000 scholarship was presented May 20.

To qualify, a graduating senior must be a member of Aspire Credit Union and write a one-page essay about one of the seven cooperative principles. Balas wrote about the concern for community, referencing the impact on the community from Aspire Credit Union and how she can use these lessons of kindness and carry them into her own life through activities she’s already involved in.

Balas will be pursuing a degree in physical therapy from the University of Mary this winter after completing basic training with the North Dakota National Guard this fall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
