Tractor Supply Co. celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Minot last Saturday. The soft opening of the 22,000-square-foot store was on Dec. 10.

The store moved from its Broadway location to 900 21st Ave. SE, the fourth building it has occupied over the course of its history in the city. Nikki Glover, store manager, said that the location employs approximately 20 employees.

“We’re very excited about our new location in Minot and cannot thank everyone enough for the warm welcome and patience they’ve given us during this transition,” Glover said. “It’s been a lot of work, but we’re super excited about it.”

According to The Minot Daily News files and TSC information, TSC started as a mail order tractor parts business in Chicago in 1938 by Charles E. Schmidt. Tractor Supply stayed at that original location on 509 3rd St. NE until 1966. Schmidt chose to open the first brick and mortar store in 1939 in Minot because of its central location.

TSC went public in 1994. As of Jan. 1, 2022, the company employed 45,000 employees and operated 2,002 TSC stores in 49 states. There are 14 Tractor Supply locations in the state of North Dakota.

In spite of their name, Tractor Supply doesn’t sell tractors. They do offer fencing and gates; livestock handling equipment; tractor parts and accessories; tractor and three-point attachments; tanks and pumps; haying and harvesting equipment; pond care accessories and products; agricultural sprayers and chemicals; and ATV and UTV attachments.
