Sustainable Minot Business 2021 Initiative opens for participation

The Minot Environmental Policy Group is inviting local businesses, organizations, and nonprofits to participate in the Sustainable Minot Business 2021 Initiative.

Participants are asked to set at least three goals that reduce their impact on the environment or enhance local environmental projects. Previous goals include energy and water savings, waste reduction, community education and support for projects like the Minot Pollinator Project and 1,000 Trees for Minot. All goals are non-binding and subject to change as needed. Participants receive a certificate of partnership for display in their places of operation.

“What we like best about this project is that businesses and organizations can choose actions that align with their mission and goals.” said member Dr. Joe Collette.

Shannon Krueger, another group member, added, “Participants can pursue the projects they are passionate about and our community is a better place because of it.”

The Sustainable Minot Business Initiative began in 2019 with five participants. It grew to 20 participants in 2020 and hopes to expand with further participation in 2021. Interested businesses, organizations, and nonprofits should contact the Minot Environmental Policy Group at environmentminot@gmail.com. Goals are due by Oct. 1.
