Basin Electric Power Cooperative will host members and guests from a nine-state region at its first virtual Annual Meeting of the Membership today. This year’s theme is “Listen & Lead.”

The livestreamed event will feature messages from Basin Electric representatives and keynote speaker, Scott Tinker. Tinker is the director of the 250-person Bureau of Economic Geology, the state geologist of Texas and a professor holding the Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin.

He co-produced and is featured in the award-winning energy documentary film “Switch,” which has been screened in over 50 countries to more than 15 million viewers and is used on thousands of K-12 and college campuses. He formed the nonprofit Switch Energy Alliance, recently released the film “Switch On,” which addresses global energy poverty, and is currently working on the film “Making the Switch,” which focuses on the energy transition. He is the voice of EarthDate, a two-minute weekly program that focuses on stories about Earth. Tinker speaks at 9 a.m.
