St. Michel receives SBPC’s Community Champion Award

RUGBY – Souris Basin Planning Council has announced the presentation of its inaugural Margo J. Helgerson Community Champion Award to Rob St. Michel of Rugby.

The award, named after the late Margo J. Helgerson, who dedicated her life to serving the communities of North Dakota, highlights community members living and working in North Dakota Region 2, who show outstanding character and selfless commitment to the improved vibrancy and future of their community.

St. Michel owns four furniture stores, including three in North Dakota. He was recognized for his commitment to renovating the buildings on Main Street to bring business back to Rugby.

St. Michel said buildings are integral to the history of small towns like Rugby.

“I can’t stand to see an old building deteriorating, and I always think something can be done about it,” he said.
