AGT Foods in Minot has introduced a new pea-based pasta line called Veggipasta that provides a healthy option for consumers.

“Consumers are looking for new and innovative products that are good for them and taste good as well. Whether that is high in protein, gluten-free or high in fiber, it is up to food companies like AGT Foods to react to what consumers may be looking for and provide products that fit their needs,” said Murad Al-Katib, president and CEO of AGT Foods. ”

We are incredibly proud to have the global launch for Veggipasta right here at home in North Dakota. The feedback we are getting from our customers has been unbelievable – that pasta made from one ingredient, peas, can cook and taste like regular wheat pasta, and taste great all at the same time. The city of Minot has been unbelievably supportive of everything AGT Foods has done since we came here half a decade ago, and we look forward to many more years of success in the community,” he said.

“We are excited to be able to provide the community with our innovative new Veggipasta line, which we produce in Minot for customers around the world,” said Eric Bartsch, division head for Global Food Ingredients with AGT Foods. “Made from 100 percent dry peas, the pasta has the taste and texture of traditional pasta. The pasta line offers the benefits of being non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free.”

Veggipasta is now available at Marketplace Foods in Minot and Tellman’s Market in New Salem, and AGT Foods is continuing to expand their distribution. For more information about the Veggipasta, please visit www.veggi.info.

AGT Foods is a global leader in value-added processing of pulse and staple foods and a leading supplier of ingredients derived from pulses, including flours, proteins, fibers, and starches, for premium food companies from around the globe. The company produces non-GMO, gluten-free and allergen-reduced pulse ingredients at its flagship production facility in Minot, where it employs over 100 people.

AGT Foods opened its second North Dakota-based processing facility in Minot in 2013. With an investment of over $85 million into its Minot operations, AGT has built one of the premier pulse ingredient processing facilities in the world, applying the latest technologies and advancements to pulse crop processing. One of AGT’s innovative technologies minimizes the natural flavor of pulses, creating numerous versatile opportunities for pulse crops, including premium Veggipasta and other pulse-based ingredients and products.

“For generations, our area’s farmers have been known for feeding the world. Now, through the innovation of AGT Foods, workers in Minot are converting our commodities into game-changing products,” said John MacMartin, interim president of the Minot Area Development Corp.

“This expansion bolsters the state’s business case for an intermodal facility,” said James Leiman, director of Economic Development and Finance at the North Dakota Department of Commerce. “Continued growth in North Dakota will result in improved supply chain and logistics options for producers throughout the region, resulting in less expensive transportation options for years to come.”
