Trinity names hospice volunteer coordinator

Kimberly Waswick has been named Volunteer Coordinator for Trinity Health Hospice.

Waswick is responsible for recruiting, training, selecting, and coordinating volunteers to assist with hospice, which is a special form of care aimed at enhancing the quality of life for someone whose illness is unlikely to be cured. She also works with volunteers to find the right opportunity to fit their unique interests and skills.

Hospice volunteers serve in several different capacities. Some provide direct support by sitting with patients, or assisting families with meals or transportation. Others provide indirect support by helping caregivers with general office tasks.

“Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team,” Waswick said. “They make a big difference in the lives of hospice patients by providing support during one of life’s most challenging journeys; and in doing so they enrich their own lives.”

A Minot native, Waswick earned a bachelor of social work from Minot State University and practiced at Valley Memorial Homes in Grand Forks for nearly 18 years. She recently returned to Minot to work with Trinity’s hospice program.
