The Mouse River Players Community Theatre has announced its upcoming production of the Tony award winning musical “Come From Away” as a tribute to Sept. 11 and a reminder of the community that came together in the aftermath to support around 7,000 people.

"The high point is humanity," Director Lin Knickerbocker said when describing the show.

The production will run Sept. 11-12 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m., with additional performances Sept. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. The show will take place at the Mouse River Players’ theater at 115 1st St SE.

Opening night on Sept. 11 marks the 25th anniversary of the tragedy involving the terrorist attacks and tells the real-life story of 7,000 airline passengers who were stranded in the town of Gander, Newfoundland. The small town welcomed the passengers after U.S. airspace closed following the events of that day.

“Come From Away” is one of the most produced musicals in 2026 as the story of community, kindness, empowerment and compassion resonates with audiences still. The theater’s website describes the timing as “profoundly meaningful."

Knickerbocker first fell in love with the musical with her family. When her daughter saw the rights to the show had opened earlier this year, she said “Let’s do it.”

"Our season starts on Sept. 11 and when we noticed it was the 25th anniversary of 9/11, it felt like everything was coming together," Knickerbocker said.

Mouse River Players opened in 1971 and is Minot's oldest community theater that produces four to six shows a year, making an effort to bring accessible arts to everyone.

Tickets can be found on the Mouse River Players’ website. Updates about the production and other upcoming shows are available through the theater’s website and social media pages.
