Trinity hosts first annual car show

By JILL SCHRAMM 1 min read

Trinity Health held its Park for the Park event with classic cars, Ward County and Trinity emergency vehicles, food trucks and activities for the children Wednesday, June 17, in the hospital parking lot.

One goal of the community event was to encourage donations for a park being planned on the northeast side of the Trinity property. The park would provide a peaceful place for Trinity staff and patients and other community members to gather.

Hannah Pederson, development officer for Trinity Health Foundation, said plans for the park include a walking trail and playground. The foundation is exploring grant opportunities, but no immediate timeline exists for construction of the park, she said.

Park for the Park was the initiative of Trinity's Great Place to Work Committee. Michelle Melaas, with Facilities Management and a member of the committee, said Trinity's events often are geared toward women, so the decision was to host an event just before Father's Day that men and the whole family could enjoy. The intent is to host the event annually, she said.

At the conclusion of the car show, classic vehicles paraded around the hospital for staff and patients to watch from the windows.
