The Northwest Arts Center is presenting the “INT’L All Media 2025” Annual Juried Exhibition through Dec. 20 in the Walter Piehl Gallery at Minot State University.

Now in its 30th year, the annual exhibition celebrates the creativity of artists worldwide., according to Minot State University Communications information. What began as part of the Americas 2000 series has grown into a showcase of diverse media, methods and ideas. The exhibition continues MSU’s commitment to fostering contemporary visual arts and honors a legacy rooted in innovation and community while inviting bold new perspectives, according to university information.

This year’s exhibition features more than 40 artworks in traditional and experimental mediums by artists from across the United States and Japan, including drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, painting and a multimedia installation.

The juror for this year’s exhibition is Melissa Monroe, a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon. Since beginning her artistic journey in 2013, she has immersed herself in painting, textiles and sculpture, creating work that explores vulnerability, transformation and self-reflection. Her work has been shown in galleries and art fairs across the country.

“In reviewing the submissions, I was drawn to work that was not only well executed but also had a strong voice — pieces that said something, that carried emotional weight or revealed the artist’s point of view,” Monroe said in a news release.

An opening reception and online viewing of “INT’L All Media 2025” with the juror was held Thursday, Oct. 23.

Monroe will present in the Art Seminar Series for students and the public at MSU’s Hartnett Hall, Room 106, on Friday, Oct. 24, at noon. The Art Seminar Series offers students and the public the opportunity to learn about the work, lives and experiences of guest artists and arts professionals visiting the university.

The exhibition will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. It is closed on holidays. The Walter Piehl Gallery is located on the lower level of the Gordon B. Olson Library at MSU, with its own entrance on the south side of the library.

Also on view is a solo exhibition by 2024 All Media Best of Show recipient Jacob Crook. His exhibition, “Umbrae,” features dark and contemplative scenes that encourage viewers to consider their own associations with imagery.

“INT’L All Media 2025,” “Umbrae” and related activities are supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the North Dakota Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Starting at $2.99/week.
