Arts in the City returns to downtown, Oak Park

Minot Area Council of the Arts (MACA) has announced the return of Arts in the City for another season of live music, local art and community fun.

This summer, the free concert series runs from June 1 to Aug. 21, with shows on Sunday evenings at Oak Park in June and July and select Thursday nights in downtown Minot.

Activities kick off this coming Sunday in Oak Park with performances by the Heritage Singers at 4 p.m. and Daniel Starks at 7 p.m.

Thursdays Downtown transforms downtown spaces into energetic hubs of live music, local food trucks, artisan vendors and community spirit, according to a MACA news release. With two performers each evening, the music kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and continues into the night. From folk to funk, brass bands to rock groups, Thursdays Downtown brings big city energy with small town heart, all summer long.

Thursdays Downtown will be on First Avenue Southeast and Second Street Southeast near the Blue Rider on June 12 and 26. The final Arts in the City on Main Street will be held on June 19. Later in the summer, MACA will transition to the brand new Citizens Alley once construction is complete.

Set beneath the leafy canopy of Oak Park, Sundays in the Park offers a more laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere, featuring local and regional acts. Performances are held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., inviting the community to bring a chair or blanket and relax.

Openings still exist for vendors. Prospective vendors should contact MACA.

Starting at $2.99/week.
