International Peace Garden hosting 9/11 Memorial event
DUNSEITH – The International Peace Garden, north of Dunseith, will hold a 9/11 Memorial event on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Site. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 a.m. and take seats by 10:45 a.m. Light refreshments will be available to the public after the event.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the atrium of the Conservatory.
The 9/11 Memorial Site was established in 2002 through the work of the International Peace Garden (IPG) board, North Dakota and Manitoba governments, and Rotary clubs in both countries.
Speakers honoring the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 include Lisa Kudelka, IPG president; program emcee Tom Rafferty, past president of the Minot Rotary Club; N.D. Rep. Fred Walker, N.D. Tourism; Manitoba Rep David Pankratz, provincial military envoy and former firefighter/first responder; as well as representatives from the Minot and Brandon, Manitoba, Rotary Clubs, a performance by the Bottineau school choir and a flag party provided by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3 Brandon.
