ND still has voice in Republican presidential race
Some ask, “Does North Dakota even have a voice on who is the Republican nominee for President?”
Some say, “This race is over – Donald Trump is going to be the Republican nominee.”
Others declare, “Donald Trump is going to be your next president.”
Whoa partner…..not so fast. The race for the Republican nominee is far from over.
Thus far, only two states have voted for the Republican nominee for president. The winner got 51% in Iowa and 54% in New Hampshire. (Those aren’t great margins that suggest this race is over). As of this writing, 48 other states have yet to vote. 14 states (40% of America) will vote the day AFTER North Dakota.
North Dakota Republicans will cast their votes on March 4 across the state in 13 different locations.
The Party will hold its presidential caucus that night from 5:00 to 8:00 across the state for people to vote by written ballot on who they want as the nominee for President. The race is hardly over. Donald Trump holds 32 delegates and Nikki Haley holds 17 delegates to the Republican National Convention, where the nominee will be selected. The winner needs 1215 delegates to secure the nomination.
Do you care who the Republican nominee is for President? You should. The next president will influence your business, your property, your family and personal life immensely. Moreover, the Founding Fathers knew that a free people needed to participate and be engaged in their government at all levels in order for it to serve them and the fundamental principles they embedded in our Constitution.
If we want our country to function properly and to preserve our freedom, promote personal responsibility, protect our private property and practice limited government, we must participate. It’s not on auto-pilot and won’t survive unless we take care of it. Voting for who is the nominee for president is one small part of our duty as Americans. Vote on March 4 for who will best serve our country as the Republican nominee.
