‘Voices’ note holiday season with Christmas tradition

Submitted Photo Voices of Note presented its fall concert in November at First Baptist Church in Minot.

Voices of Note has been celebrating the holiday season with its annual Christmas concert for nearly 35 years. This important tradition has been a hallmark for the community members who gather for fellowship following the program.

This year’s concert will take place on Monday at 7 p.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church.

“It’s a feel-good evening. We feel good just for the love of being able to sing, and we feel good that our audience is so happy to have us there,” said Nadine Holmly, one of the directors.

As a gift to the community, Holmly said they don’t collect a freewill offering for the holiday concert and it is free to attend. The concert is followed by a social gathering with coffee, cider and homemade cookies made by members of Voices of Note.

The group is always accepting new members and is comprised of women primarily from Minot. Some members travel from Granville, Donnybrook, Burlington and Drake to sing with the group. The ensemble is also directed by Roberta Johnson and Sharon Strube.
