Fort Union Indian Arts Festival set for August
WILLISTON – The Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site will come alive with dancing, drumming, singing, music, games, demonstrations, and children’s activities on Aug. 5-6, during the Indian Arts Festival.
Special headliners include The Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers, who appeared on Canada’s Got Talent; The Indigenous Games Society, demonstrating Native games; Matt Schanandore, traditional Native flutist and flute maker; Lissa Yellow Bird Chase, subject of the Pulitzer Prize finalist book “Yellow Bird: Oil, Murder, and a Woman’s Search for Justice in Indian Country”; and Shalie Sommer, Turtle Mountain/Lakota beadwork artist.
The event runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Admission and parking are free.
