Fort Stevenson to host ski classic, boat parade
GARRISON – Fort Stevenson State Park will host an evening of entertainment in the Garrison Bay Marina on Saturday, July 29. Since 1958, Club de Skinautique of Bottineau has amazed spectators with its water show, featuring trick skiing, pyramids, and jumps.
The waterskiing show starts at 5 p.m., followed by featured band Classic Rhythm at 6:30 p.m. The night concludes with the lighted boat parade at 9:30 p.m. Visitors are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
Food and drink options as well as food trucks will be on the lawn throughout the evening. The marina store will have ice cream.
Anyone interested in entering the lighted boat parade can contact the park office for parade rules and registration. Prizes will be awarded.
Before its performance, Club de Skinautique is holding a ski show fun day geared to youth ages 9 and older who are interested in learning more about water skiing. This experience starts at 2 p.m. in the Garrison Bay Marina.
Participants will have the chance to learn about the club’s different acts, get an explanation about the equipment, try some on-land practice and ski behind the boat. Youth can bring skis if they have them, but it’s not required. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children, and a donation to the club is requested. Contact the park office to register as space may be limited.
The event is free of charge. The park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a State Park Annual Pass is displayed.
