The Minot Chamber Chorale will present its spring concert, "Songs of the Heartland," on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Our Redeemer's Church in Minot.
This is the 50th annual season of the Minot Chamber Chorale.
"For our spring concert the Minot Chamber Chorale will weave a musical thread that connects us in spite of the differences that can isolate us and keep us from each other," said Emerson Eads, Chamber Chorale director and Minot State University director of choral activities.
He said most of the music that will be performed is arranged by Craig Hella Johnson, the choral arranger, composer and conductor whose music the group will be singing when they collaborate with Dakota Pro Musica in October. More information about that collaboration will be announced later.
Eads said Johnson's music "has an openness and earnestness in it that gives a special voice to the music of the heartland."
The concert also will feature works by Stephen Paulus, William Hawley and Eads.
Soloists will include Katie Sundbakken, Ashley Mogard, Maddie Sem, Martha Fix, Greg Carpenter, Danny Hohman, Trapper Simmers, Cheryl Nilsen and Bethany Andreasen.
An ice cream social will immediately follow.
The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be accepted.
