Minot’s Oak Park is getting a new fall event. The Minot Park District is hoping to make Logger Fest an annual event, said Gerald Brown, Minot Park District Special Events coordinator.
Logger Fest will begin Friday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m. and go through Saturday evening, Sept. 17.
Kicking off the two-day festival will be vendors and food trucks. Vendors include Artspace Ceramics, Wild Ruby, Gems Jewels, A Sister Thing and Rock On. Food trucks include Magic Bean Brewing Co, Fun on a Bun, St. Peters Gyros, Maria Ramona’s Mexican Food and Sweet Fleece.
There will be demonstrations by Grateful Spaces Studio, with Cody Carlson the chainsaw carver, and ceramics demonstrations by Artspace, as well as two-man crosscut sawing and axe throwing, Brown said. He said there also will be an obstacle course with a military crawl, zip line and log balancing activities, with additional surprises at the event.
On Friday evening the festival will wrap up with an outdoor showing of the “Goonies” from 7-10 p.m.

Saturday, the festival will open with the Farmers Market at 9 a.m. and continue with vendors, food trucks, demonstrations and obstacle courses.
Also on Saturday, iHeartMedia’s “Weiner Takes All” small dog races will feature dogs weighing less than 20 pounds and wearing different colored bandanas competing for prizes. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Prior to the festival-closing performance by Slamabama, Atypical Brewery will be holding a Stein Holding contest, Participants compete for prizes by attempting to hold a full beer stein up to their faces for the longest amount of time. Brown said it is a typical Oktoberfest activity.
Brown said Minot Park District looked to other communities for great fall festival ideas, found a Logger Fest and mixed in some Oktoberfest flair to create the most fun and unique fall experience for the Minot area.
