‘Wings and Wheels’ fundraiser set for Saturday

The Men’s Winter Refuge will host its inaugural “Wings and Wheels” fundraiser on Saturday at Magic City Harley Davidson.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

It will be a day full of family-friendly fun with food trucks, music, prize raffle, children’s play activities, local vendor booths and a motorcycle poker run coordinated by the Green Knights Military Motorcycle Club.

All proceeds will go toward operation costs of the Men’s Winter Refuge, Minot’s men’s homeless shelter. The Men’s Winter Refuge provides temporary shelter and other services for men ages 18 and over who are experiencing homelessness.

In addition to shelter, the Men’s Winter Refuge offers homeless prevention services, such as help with transportation costs for individuals seeking to get to family or shelter elsewhere; free rides every Wednesday to a local food pantry; and free men’s clothing.

Since its inception in 2013, the Men’s Winter Refuge has provided shelter for more than 1,200 individuals and provided homeless prevention services for more than 2,000 others.

The “Wheels & Wings” event will begin at Magic City Harley Davidson with a color guard performing a salute during the singing of the National Anthem prior to the motorcycle run. Registration for riders will begin at 10 a.m., and the poker run will begin at 11 a.m. with stops at the Idle Hour in Burlington, Sidelines Bar in Berthold, The Z Bar in Carpio, the Hunter’s Den in Foxholm and Pink’s Bar & Grill in Ruthville before heading to the finish at Magic City Harley-Davidson.

Sponsors assisting with the event are Integrity Outdoor Living, Magic City Harley Davidson, Minot Automotive Center, the Green Knights MMC and Kristen Dionne Consulting.
