Freezin’ for a Reason collects 600 pounds of food, raises $2,668

Minot State University’s Student Social Work Organization raised $2,668 in cash and collected 600 pounds of food with its Freezin’ for a Reason charity drive over the weekend, according to organization president Jenna Metcalf.

The food will be donated to the Men’s Winter Refuge and the cash donations will go to Project Bee, formerly the YWCA, which is opening up a warming center for the homeless.

Social work students set up a donation station in the parking lot at Marketplace Foods, 1620 South Broadway, on Saturday and Sunday. People who still want to donate to the cause can call the social work department at Minot State.
