Drive-through powwow Sunday at MSU

Minot State University’s Native American Center, in conjunction with Sacred Pipe Resource Center in Bismarck, North Dakota Native Vote and Census 2020, will host a Drive Through Powwow on Sunday.

Grand Entry will begin at 1 p.m. The first 20 registered dancers in regalia will be paid day money. On-site registration begins at noon. Invited drums are OakDale Singers and Ho Sica. Master of ceremony will be Daniel Henry.

COVID-19 canceled many spring and summer powwow celebrations, but it has given sponsors a chance to rethink this community event in a respectful and safe manner. Come cruise along the scenic driveway in front of MSU’s Old Main building to watch traditional dancers and tune in to hear that beautiful drum beat, all free of charge. If necessary to exit your vehicle, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Spectators will be given a chance to select their People’s Choice winners in male and female categories. Information will be available about the 2020 Census, voting and more.
