Winter event ‘Fight the Frost’ returns to Minot

Games Galore Party Rental is holding its second annual Fight the Frost event at the North Dakota State Fair Center this weekend, starting Friday afternoon.

Corey Heiser with Games Galore said all ages are welcome to the event. They will have inflatable obstacle courses, interactives, slides and bounce houses. A dedicated “Kiddie Land” will be set up for children ages 5 and under.

He estimates that 1,500 to 2,000 children attended over the three days at last year’s event. Parents also participated in the games, making it a time for families to spend quality time together.

Games Galore is based out of Fargo and they know just how cold it can get. They put on the Fight the Frost event to give kids a place to burn off some of their energy and have fun indoors when it’s too cold to play outside. Heiser said he reached out to the NDSF Center to see if there would be availability for them to have an event last year, and they had such a good turn out that they’re going to continue to come to Minot. “The Minot community is great, and we have a good relationship with the State Fair Center,” he said.

In all, Heiser said there will be 25-30 different items in the 4H and FFA halls. Full concessions will also be available. Admission and parking are free. To play games, it is $8 for ages 5 and under, and $14 for ages 6 and older. If families leave and return the same day, they do not need to repay to play games. The payment for games is for the whole day.

Fight the Frost will be from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday.
