Minot’s Chloe Marie to participate in filming of Celebration of Music Concert

Minot teenage singer/songwriter Chloe Marie Watterud will participate in the filming of a national Prairie Public Television Celebration of Music concert series today hosted by Ethan Bortnick in San Bernardino, Calif.

She earned this opportunity by winning the North Dakota Celebration of Music competition in September of 2018. Bortnick made the announcement during his Sept. 23, 2018, concert held at the Belle Mehus Auditorium in Bismarck.

“I can’t believe it has already been a year since the Celebration of Music concert in Bismarck,” Watterud said in a press release. “And now we’re getting ready for the national concert filming in California. They built a special studio in San Bernardino for the show, so the filming was bumped a couple of months to give them time to complete it.”

This national concert series is not a competition, but a collection of performances by winners of the Celebration of Music contests held across the nation during the past several months. The contests were open to musicians and singers ages four to 25. Watterud is 18-years-old and a senior at Minot High School Magic City Campus.

“I’m really excited to meet people from around the United States who love music as much as I do, and to work with Ethan Bortnick again. He’s an amazing musician,” Watterud said.

Concert host Ethan Bortnick is an 18-year-old child prodigy musician whose parents discovered he could hear a song and play it back on piano note for note when he was only three-years-old. He began creating original compositions at age five, has appeared on numerous television shows and performed at concerts around the world. When his younger brother had to undergo three heart surgeries, Bortnick was inspired to use his musical abilities to support charities, and has raised more than $50 million. More information is available on his website, EthanBortnick.com.

Watterud, the daughter of Tony and Tanya Watterud of Minot, has operated her music business, Chloe Marie Music, since recording her first single, “Adore” at the beginning of her freshman year of high school. She currently has eight original songs on iTunes and other music streaming services under the artist name of Chloe Marie.

She is a member of Minot High School choirs including Change of Pace, as well as the Western Plains Youth Ensemble, and has performed solo and with a band at several North Dakota events, including the Chokecherry Festival in Williston, the Women’s Business Summit in Bismarck, the Divide County Fair in Crosby, the North Dakota State Fair in Minot, Minot’s Arts in the Park, and several other festivals and events. Her website, ChloeMarieMusic.com, includes her music and links to her social media sites. Her recorded music is primarily in the pop music genre, but her performances include both pop and country music.
