Get transported back in time with Little Chicago Pub District’s Roaring Twenties Pub Crawl

Submitted photo Area residents dressed up in flapper attire and spent a night downtown celebrating the end of Prohibition last year. Join Little Chicago Pub District Saturday as they bring downtown alive with history at Ebeneezer’s, The Spot and The Tap Room with their Roaring Twenties Pub Crawl.

Prepare for downtown Minot to come alive with sparkling flapper dresses and swanky jazz tunes as Little Chicago Pub District brings back their Roaring Twenties Pub Crawl Saturday.

The crawl will start at 6 p.m. at either Ebeneezer’s, The Spot or The Tap Room and is for people ages 21 and over. A $10 VIP bracelet will come with drink specials, help support future events for Little Chicago and $5 of every ticket goes to a local charity or nonprofit.

“We kind of want to have one last big hurrah before it gets cold out,” Tap Room owner and Little Chicago Pub District member Jon Lakoduk said. “People love it, (last year) it was one of the bigger turnouts for our pub crawls.”

The pub crawl was popular last year, but crawlers expressed it would be easier to dress up without worrying about sub-zero temps.

“We were made aware that flapper attire is not necessarily conducive to North Dakota winters,” Lakoduk said. “It just got moved because a lot of our friends and guests wanted to dress up in the appropriate era and for the ladies the flapper dresses aren’t necessarily real warm and going out and having everyone buy their own fur coat gets a little spendy.”

This year marks the 100th anniversary for the start of Prohibition and the history around the start of the roaring ’20s.

The Tap Room plans to have a saxophonist while the other venues are sure to be rolling with jazz tunes.

“There will be drink specials and you’ll be able to get your whiskey or your rum or your whatever at two of the bars,” Lakoduk said. “And then you’ll have to come over and slum it with me over here (at The Tap Room) with beer for now.”

The Little Chicago Pub District is committed to bringing history alive downtown and reminds those that do drink to do so responsibly.
