With Halloween almost upon us, the weekend and

beginning of next week is full of activities and spooky fun.

Today

Starting off the Halloween weekend at 4 p.m. today, the Central Avenue Ramp is holding a Haunted Halloween Family Event. They are providing a variety of different haunted houses that cost $1 each that they say will have just the right amount of scary for kids.

The haunted houses are put together by Taube Museum of Art, Magic City Discovery Center, Caleb’s Clubhouse, Minot AFB Spouses’ Club, Western Plains opera Company, Artspace Suite 1 Gallery, Make a Scene Kids Theatre, Trinity Auxiliary and Trinity Auxiliary Healthy Hearts Club. There will be food and drinks available for purchase and a pumpkin carving or painting voting where the family can vote for their favorite for $1. All proceeds from the haunted houses will go to nonprofits and proceeds from the pumpkin contest will go to Beautification of Downtown Minot.

The Minot Family YMCA is holding a family fun night for Halloween at 5 p.m. There will be games, candy, food, a haunted house, Dizzy the Clown, and more. They will be selling sloppy joes and chips for $2. They highly encourage the whole family to go dressed up. Admission is $3 per child or $15 per family.

Tonight there will also be a few Trunk-or-Treats put on by churches and the Tauros. A way to dress up in costumes early and get some trick-or-treating done with the fun of looking at decked out vehicles, the Tauros trunk-or-treat will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Maysa Arena. One church doing the trunk-or-treat is the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday

On Saturday, the Halloween fun begins at 10:30 a.m. with a Halloween Puppet Show at the Minot Public Library. It is a free, child-friendly start to the day.

Main Street Books will hold a special Halloween story time at 11 a.m. The reading is being put on by the MSU Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. The story time will be extra special and spooky and costumes are encouraged.

At 1 p.m. Roosevelt Park Zoo will be doing its annual Boo at the Zoo. With more than 20 members along the trick-or-treat trail, there will be lots of treats for the family. Berry Acres has donated pumpkins for treats for the zoo animals and guests can watch as the different animals react and enjoy the fall snack. They will be offering a hay ride and a train ride for a fun, relaxing trip around parts of the zoo as well. For an additional fee, there will be yard games and bouncy houses put together by the Zoo Crew and the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Institute. At the same time, if you are a family with dog children, the Hair of The Dog Grooming will be hosting a Doggie Trick-or-Treat at the Bark Park. A free, pet-friendly event, there will be treats for the pets and a time for them to play with one another.

For some more mature Halloween fun, there will be a Halloween party at the parking garage. The Haunted Parking Garage Party will begin at 6 p.m. There will be live music, food, haunted houses, and a costume contest. Party-goers could also win a Delta vacation worth $1,600 but must be present to win. For the costume contest, first place will win $300, second place $200, and third place $100. Winners will be decided by the party guests and announced at midnight. Tickets are available at Cookies for You, Fiancee, and Margie’s Art Glass for $15. They will be $20 at the door on the day of the event if still available. Haunted rooms will cost $1.

Monday

On Monday, Oct. 30, HighAir Ground will be having a Halloween Festival for jumpers to enjoy. There will be games, a costume contest, trick-or-treating, and more. Those who wear a costume will get $2 off their fee for their first hour of jumping. The event will be going on all day until 10 p.m.

Halloween Day

On the day of Halloween, kids have a large variety of trick-or-treating options. The Wellington will open its doors for kids to go around in their costumes at 1:30 p.m. Edgewood Vista is inviting kids 10 and under from 3:30 until 5 p.m. to go through the halls to rooms with a pumpkin on their door to get some treats. The Dakota Square Mall will start their annual trick-or-treating at 5 p.m. for children 12 and under. Children have to be accompanied by an adult and masks on adults is not allowed. The event goes until 7 p.m. or while supplies last.

A Community Youth Halloween Party will be held on Halloween day at 5 p.m. at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. The party is open for children through 8th grade to go trick-or-treating. The event is being put on by the Minot Optimist Club and by the Minot State University Student Council for Exceptional Children. They wanted to provide children with another safe and free environment for them to have fun. For the event, parents are asked to park in the north lot and enter through the northeast door.

The First Church of the Nazarene and the Cornerstone Presbyterian church will be putting on trunk-or-treats for the kids with candy, decorations, hot dogs, and warm beverages for the family. The Trunk-or-treat at the First Church of the Nazarene begins at 6 p.m. The Cornerstone Presbyterian’s trunk-or-treat begins at 6:30 p.m.

To end the evening, Oak Park Theater will be holding a Halloween Magic Show at 7:30 p.m. Kid friendly, the event is $3 for adults an $2 for children 8 and under if purchased early. Tickets the day of the event will cost $5.
