Personnel Committee Meeting

February 4th, 2021

A meeting of the Ward County Per-

sonnel Committee was held at 2:00

p.m. on February 4, 2021, with Com-

missioners Fjeldahl, Pietsch

present. Also present were Comm.

Weppler, Tammy Terras, Kjerstie

Fevold, Jason Kraft, Leona

Lochthowe, Kerrianne Boetcher,

Jennifer Wiechmann, and Jason

Blowers.

Gallagher Consulting appeared via

virtual meeting. Megan Olson, Mike

Verdoorn and Greg Mangold were

available to answer any questions

Commissioner Fjeldahl and Com-

missioner Pietsch had on the posi-

tion description questionnaire

(PDQ). Gallagher reviewed the

powerpoint communication, that will

be sent out to all county employees,

with the committee and answered

any questions that Commissioner

Fjeldahl and Commissioner Pietsch

had. Gallagher reviewed how and

when distribution to employees

would happen. Another document

that was reviewed by Gallagher was

the Project Tracking Document,

which went over the timeline of

when tasks would be completed by.

After the presentation was complete

the committee was given the oppor-

tunity to ask questions. To conclude

the Personnel Committee Meeting,

Commissioner Fjeldahl and Com-

missioner Pietsch discussed

scheduling the next meeting for the

Personnel Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:28

PM.

Personnel Committee Meeting

January 29, 2021

A meeting of the Ward County Per-

sonnel Committee was held at 2:00

p.m. on January 29, 2021, with

Commissioners Fjeldahl, Pietsch

present. Also present were Comm.

Weppler, Noreen Barton, Doug

Diedrichsen, Tammy Terras, Kjerstie

Fevold, Larry Hubbard, Shannon

Larson, Chris Ray, Kelly Haugen

and Dana Larsen.

Human Resource Director Tammy

Terras introduced Megan Olson,

Mike Verdoorn and Greg Mangold

from Gallagher Consulting who ap-

peared via virtual meeting. Ms. Ol-

son, Mr. Verdoorn and Mr. Mangold

provided the committee a presenta-

tion regarding the County Compen-

sation Study. They reviewed the

steps, timeline and the position

description questionnaire (PDQ) with

the committee. All county employ-

ees will be given the opportunity for

complete a position description

questionnaire. The questionnaires

will be reviewed by the employee’s

supervisor, department head and

then returned to HR. After the

presentation was complete the com-

mittee was given the opportunity to

ask questions.

The final item of discussion was re-

garding the pending retirement of

Leo Schmidt, County Building In-

spector. Mr. Schmidt stated there is

not enough work currently to contin-

ue this position as a 40 hour per

work position. Ms. Terras proposed

to advertise the position at 32 hours

per week. Comm. Fjeldahl ques-

tioned if the County could possibly

contract with an engineer firm for

building permits and inspections.

The Committee decided to recom-

mend the County Commission con-

sider contracting with an engineering

firm or advertise the position of

County Building Inspector as a part

time position.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:15

PM.
