The Minot State men’s basketball team dropped a 76-62 decision to Northern State on Senior Night at the MSU Dome on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Beavers (12-16 overall, 9-13 NSIC) received 16 points each from Deuce Benjamin and Darik Dissette. Both also pulled down five rebounds. The Minot State women’s ice hockey team had its hopes of capturing the Women’s Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) conference tournament end at the hands of Liberty University for the second straight season. The Beavers dropped a 5-1 contest to the top-ranked Flames in the WMCH semifinals at Sidner Ice Arena in Fremont, Neb., on Friday, Feb. 20. The Beavers lost to Liberty in the WMCH final last year. No one was a bigger fan of Reese Meagher than members of the Minot United girls hockey team on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Grand Forks freshman netted the game-winner goal at 1:59 of overtime to give the Knights a 5-4 victory over Jamestown, giving Minot United the eighth and final spot in the state tournament. The Blue Jays appeared on their way to state after Izzy Maddock gave her team a 4-3 with 2:29 remaining in regulation. The Minot State men’s ice hockey team joined the Midwest College Hockey conference two years ago and already has two regular season and tournament titles. The Beavers claimed their second straight MCH Tournament championship with a 3-1 victory over U-Mary in the conference title game on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Albert Lea City Arena in Albert Lea, Minn.
