US HHS awards funds in ND

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the award of $4.67 million for initiatives across North Dakota to support Head Start, diabetes prevention and treatment and opioid response. Among the grants for diabetes prevention and treatment programs were $218,449 to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, $155,194 to the Three Affiliated Tribes and $135,604 to the Spirit Lake Tribe.

HHS prepares to implement Medicaid work requirements

BISMARCK – North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced it is preparing to implement several federally required changes to the state’s Medicaid program over the next two years, including work requirements for some Medicaid Expansion members. County hesitates to extend pound lease

The City of Minot would like to extend the use of a county highway building for a temporary dog pound and increase the capacity limit while it continues to search for a replacement site. On Tuesday, July 21, the Ward County Commission rejected the idea, although indicating an openness to reconsider if the city can provide more details. The county had approved a six-month lease for temporary space to give the city time to find a permanent location. That lease expires Aug. 31.
