Reflections: Be careful! Warning for those who we love

How many times have you said, “Be careful,” to a family member as they headed out on a trip, climbed a ladder or even just crossed the street? Toddlers might rebel at the restriction, teenagers might roll their eyes and even adults might be irritated if they feel it is an unwarranted warning. Minot Baptist schedules Vacation Bible School

Minot Baptist Church will conduct its Vacation Bible School from Monday through Friday, June 24-28. The theme is “The Great Jungle Journey — An Epic Cruise from Genesis to Revelation” from Answers In Genesis. Children will explore the Bible, God’s Word, and have fun with a riverboat cruise through the Scriptures. The sessions will include music, crafts, games, Bible and missionary stories and snacks. VBS will run from 6-8:30 p.m. each evening at the church at 500 46th Ave. NE. Registration is for children ages 4 through 12 years old.

Church to launch fund drive for expansion, food pantry

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot has announced plans for a capital fund drive to support building expansions and a new food pantry. The church reported it has set a minimum goal of $3 million for its “Vibrant Vision” Campaign, which along with the $ 2 million already set aside, would allow for ground breaking and completion of phase one of its plan. The first phase consists of updating and expanding the rectory, expanding the parish center and building a dedicated food pantry. The Rev. Reflections: Two lessons from a weed

“What’s this?” asked my friend as she started cleaning behind an end table in my living room. I looked her direction only to see her pull up a slim but nearly bare stem of a plant that was over 5 feet long! There were many “branches” at the end of this stem so it appeared to be a root system looking for a place to secure itself.
