Mother Nature halts Cardboard Canoe Race at Roosevelt Park Pool

Race teams were ready to row at the Minot Park District’s Cardboard Canoe Race at Roosevelt Park Pool Friday evening. Unfortunately Mother Nature rolled in some drama of her own, sinking the competition before it could truly begin. The cardboard and duct tape boats were built to row across the pool in an annual contest judging speed, design and dramatic sinking. As contestants lined up however, thunder and lightning rumbled throughout the park and the event was canceled for safety reasons.
