Four Majettes, two Sentinels named to All WDA Volleyball Team
With the conclusion of the Western Dakota Association (WDA) volleyball tournament on Saturday, November 16, the 2024 All WDA Volleyball Team was announced.
Minot High had four athletes named to the team while Minot North, in their first season of varsity play, had two athletes named to the team as well.
Minot High seniors Leah Walter, Sydney Aberle, Mackenzie Dufner and Raegan Terrel made the team as well for the Majettes. Lady Sentinels senior Cadence Shipman and junior Aven Kelly from Minot North also made the team.
Leah Walter played in 18 matches on the year in WDA action. She was second on the team in kills with 147- or 8.16 per match. She was also third on the year with blocks at 11.5 for the season. Walter also posted 25 digs over the season.
Sydney Aberle led the Majettes in blocks with 25 over the season. She was third on the team in kills with 137- or 7.61 per match as well as 21 digs and four assists.
McKenzie Dufner led Minot High in assists with 606- or 33.66 per match over the season. She also posted 53 kills and 146 digs on the year as well as 6.5 blocks. Dufner was also second on the team in aces with 36 for the Majettes.
Raegan Terrel led the Majettes with 269 digs for the team. She had 56 assists and added nine kills on the year as well. Terrel tallied 20 aces for Minot High on the year.
Cadence Shipman had a standout season for the Sentinels. She led the team in kills with 246 on the year- or 13.66 per match over the 18 matches played. Shipman also led the team in blocks with 26 on the year. Shipman added four assists, 173 digs and led Minot North with 23 aces on the year.
Aven Kelly was second in blocks for the Sentinels with 21.5 and third in kills for the season with 95 over the 18 matches. Kelly posted three assists, 34 digs and seven aces over the season.
Both the Majettes and the Sentinels completed their seasons without either team traveling to the 2024 NDHSAA Class A Volleyball State Tournament.
