BISMARCK – Over the weekend, the 2023 North Dakota Cheer Coach Association Winter Cheerleading Competition took place in Bismarck, which featured 300 athletes and 24 teams getting together to showcase their skills.

Among that group was the Minot High cheer team who were looking to make their presence felt once again. It’s safe to say they would do so, as they won their third consecutive state title in Class A – Cheer/Dance.

In that event, Minot finished with a team score of 410.5, followed by West Fargo with a score of 376.5.

Not stopping there, however, Minot also won the Game Day Division for their fourth consecutive competition. Their score of 116.5 edged out Williston (106) and Legacy (92) for the top spot.

Additionally, the varsity and junior varsity teams competed in the Time Out Division where they finished in second place with a score of 119.5. Dickinson took the top spot with a score of 126.

Stunt group and individual award winners included Minot Gold taking third place in stunt group, Macee Barber taking third place in Top Sideline Cheerleader, and Lely Rivera taking second place in All Around Cheerleader.

In addition to the success that Minot High had over the weekend, the Erik Ramstad cheerleaders sized up their abilities in the middle school division, where they won with a team score of 113.5.

During a busy time of year with winter sports, the Minot High cheer team continues to not only be a bright spot during games, but they continue to show how admirable their dedication is for being able to cheer at games and prepare for competition simultaneously.

Not only do they consistently put themselves in competitions, but they also continue to have strong performances each time out. Their willingness to compete and dedication to their craft deserves a lot of praise.
