Ethan Hanson (6) of the Surrey Mustangs wrapped up his senior season by being named to the All-State second team.

Following the conclusion of a thrilling Dakota Bowl game that saw New Salem-Almont defeat Cavalier 28-26, the Class 9B All-State teams have been revealed. Among those members of the All-State teams are a few local athletes who get one final accolade for the 2022 season.

Those local athletes are Ayden Amundson and Ethan Hanson of Surrey. Amundson puts a bow on an outstanding high school career by being named first team All-State in back-to-back seasons. Hanson wraps up his remarkable career as well by being named a second team All-State player this year.

Additionally, dual-threat standout quarterback Walker Braaten of Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn was named first team All-State on offense. Braaten helped lead the Sioux to a quarterfinal playoff appearance this year. Easton Andel joins Braaten as the pair of Sioux to make the team, with Andel getting a second team nod.
