Friday night high school rundown

Led by 21 Sophie Bachmeier points, TGU girls’ basketball downed Drake-Anamoose by a 48-41 final score. Ashley Martodam added 21, and Bostyn Bailey and Ana Mohagen notched 2 in the win. Halie Fletschock led Drake with 14 points and Taryn Sieg added 12 more.

Des Lacs-Burlington girls’ hoops cruised to a 52-37 victory over Berthold behind a 29-point second half. Mackenzie Rist paced the Lakers with 11 points and Paige Berard added 10 in the win. Anne Schauer recorded 16 for Berthold in the loss, followed by seven from both Aubree Schepp and Kasey Simons.

The Surrey Mustangs girls’ basketball squad authored a 42-37 victory on home court against the visiting South Prairie Royals. Mia Aberle led the Mustangs with 11 points on the night, followed by 10 from Amelia Hoffman and seven from Melissa Dougan. MaKya Gerding registered 11 for South Prairie.

The Benson County Wildcats girls’ basketball team edged New Rockford/Sheyenne by a 55-47 margin behind a staggering 27-point night from Quinn Neppl. Hailey Maddock and Ashlyn Williams each added nine for Benson County. Mya Cudworth and Kelsie Belquist reached double-digits for New Rockford with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

North Star’s girls’ group topped Rolette by a 48-41 final score. Danielle Hagler scored 16 for North Star, followed by 10 from Payton Harpestad. Morgan Casavant reached 20 for Rolette.

The Bishop Ryan Lions’ wrestling squad triumphed over Mondak Thunder on the Lions’ home mat by a 60-21 final score. Ryan’s win featured pins by Lane Cooper, Parker Baier, Wesley Harvey, Drew Zwak, Alejandro Alvarez, Chuka Osuala and Coy Okeson.

The Minot High Majettes hockey squad was also at home Friday night, and the Maysa Arena crowd was treated to a 7-1 rout of Devils Lake. Abigail Tallman and Taylyn Cope each scored a pair of goals on the evening, and Martine Hammer, Payton Lang, Maicee Burke and Ashlyn Abrahamson rounded out the Majettes’ scoring. Goaltender Jillian Ackerman made 18 saves on 19 shots between the pipes.
