North Border wins 6-man state championship
11AA State Tournament to begin Friday
On Saturday, the NDHSAA 6-Man State Football Championship game was played at Duane Carlson Stadium in Minot.
The top-seeded North Border Eagles defeated the Center Stanton Wildcats by a final score of 50-14. North Border finishes its 2021 campaign with a perfect mark of 7-0 while Center Stanton completes the year at 5-2.
In the state’s third-place game earlier that afternoon, the third-seeded Trenton Tigers topped fifth-seed Drake-Anamoose 64-40. Trenton wraps up the year 6-3 and Drake-Anamoose ends the season at 2-6.
In other high school football news, the 11AA State Playoffs will begin its quarterfinal round on Friday. At 2-7, the Minot Magicians will participate as the eighth seed in the tournament and will travel to top-seeded West Fargo Sheyenne. Kickoff for that game is slated for 7 p.m.
Other games taking place that day in the tournament will include fourth-seeded Shanley hosting fifth-seeded Mandan, second-seeded Bismarck Century hosting Bismarck and third-seeded West Fargo hosting sixth-seeded Bismarck Legacy. All quarterfinal games are set to begin at 7 p.m.
