MSU hockey host free admission weekend as puck drops Oct. 1-2

The Minot State men’s and women’s hockey teams hit the ice this weekend to begin their season and invite all fans out to Maysa Arena for “Welcome Back Weekend” as admission for the women’s games on both Friday and Saturday, and the men’s game Friday night, all are free to the public.

The Minot State women will host Midland University (Neb.) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, to get the weekend rolling on the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena.

“We are excited to open the 2021-22 season in front of our home fans.” Beavers women’s coach Ryan Miner said. “This is a great way to show our appreciation to them, as well as showcase this year’s team to all of Beaver Nation.”

The Minot State men, who open the season on the road Thursday, Sept. 30, playing at Jamestown, then host the Jimmies on Friday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the second half of a home-and-home series, and the second half of a Beaver hockey doubleheader.

“We are ecstatic to now be a part of the Minot State athletics family, and what better way to showcase our program, and our University, than with showing our appreciation for the great city of Minot,” Beavers men’s team coach Wyatt Waselenchuk said.

“The support that we receive, year after year, is tremendous, and we look forward to playing in front of the best fans in the country right here at the Maysa Arena,” he added.

broadcast on Hockey TV

This coming season, the Minot State men’s and women’s hockey teams will have their games broadcast on Hockey TV. Games will be available to watch line and on-demand with an all-access pass or monthly subscription.

The Minot State women’s team hits the home ice first as they host Midland University on Friday, Oct. 1, at 4:30 p.m., while the Beavers men’s team plays its home opener at 7:30 p.m. at Maysa Arena on Friday Oct. 1 hosting the University of Jamestown. The men start their season on the road on Thursday at Jamestown.
