Sabre Dogs lose 5-1 in Sioux Falls

On Friday evening, the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (9-6) kicked off a three-game road series against the Sioux Falls Sunfish at Karras Park in South Dakota. Coming into the contest, the Sabre Dogs boasted the top scoring offense in the Expedition League.

After nine innings of play, Souris Valley came up short by a final score of 5-1. The Sabre Dogs plan to play the Sunfish in the second game of the series on Saturday night, and wrap up the series on Sunday.

Also on Friday, the Minot Vistas were in Mandan as the competed in the BNC Bank Border Battle Tournament.

In the first game of the day, they were beaten by the Bismarck Governors 3-2. Then in the second matchup, they fell to the Detriot Lakes by a final tally of 4-3.

Tournament play will continue on Saturday as the Vistas plan to take on the Billings Ryals at 2:30 p.m. and the Detroit Lakes later that afternoon at 4:45.

The top two seeds will advance to the tournament championship game which is scheduled to play on Sunday at noon.
