Minot takes third at Williston Invite

On Monday, the Minot boys golf team competed in the Williston Invite at The Links of North Dakota and accumulated a team score of 355 to place third overall. It was their final competition before the June 1 regionals which are slated to begin at the Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck.

Among the 10 teams to compete, Dickinson was the winner with a score of 348. Meanwhile, second place St. Mary’s also shot an identical score of 348 as Minot was seven strokes behind the pace. Josh Hood of Dickinson was the medalist at the event with a 79 on the day, besting Jackson Gilchrist of St. Mary’s by just one stroke.

Individually, Minot’s Gavin Argent posted the top score for the Magi at 86. It was the eighth time in 10 meets this year that Argent had led his club individually. Brock Johnson was two strokes behind that pace, followed by Peyton Bartsch (90), Henry Langhans (91), Jake Theis (93) and Kasen Rostad (94).

With the regular season now complete, Minot ends the year finishing no lower than third in any meets this spring. The Magi won four of their 10 meets including three consecutive events with the Dickinson Invite on May 7, the Mandan Invite May 11 and the Watford City Invite on May 14. The Magi also won the Minot Invite back on April 30.
