Robert Brewer/MDN Seen here in game from earlier this season, MaLiah Burke (11) made her presence felt with a goal and three assists in Minot's season finale win on Friday against Jamestown. Minot now plans to face Mandan this Thursday in the WDA Championship.

On Friday evening, the Minot Majettes (12-0) closed out the 2021 regular season in grand fashion with a 9-0 road triumph over the Jamestown Bluejays.

Having already clinched a berth in the state tournament, Minot collected its eighth shutout of the season, and third in a row. The Majettes held a 2-0 lead at intermission and added a whopping seven goals in the second half to blow the game open. Senior forward Lainey Sandberg accounted for a team-leading four goals in Minot’s victory.

Afterwards, Minot head soccer coach Matt Pfau was very pleased with the performance of his club in multiple aspects of the game. “It was an outstanding second half for us,” Pfau stated. “Lainey Sandberg was a stud up front, with a lot of great balls sent from our midfielders. Our defense was solid, and I am super proud of all these girls after a perfect regular season.”

Next up on the schedule, Minot plans to compete against Mandan in the WDA Tournament Championship on Thursday, May 27 in Bismarck. Start time for that match is slated for 8 p.m.
