Tauros top Wilderness 6-2

Warnert nets hat trick in victory

Following their impressive victory over first-place Aberdeen on Tuesday, the Minot Minotauros earned a 5-1 triumph over the Minnesota Wilderness on the road Friday night.

Forward Max Bogdanovich got things started offensively for the Tauros with his first goal of the season at the 11:43 mark of the first period. He was assisted on the play by Cole Mickel and Trevor Stachowiak.

In the second period, Minot distanced themselves from Minnesota by outscoring the Wilderness 4-1 in the frame. Tyler Kostelecky netted the first goal of the period at the 5:43 mark thanks to an assist by Cade Stibbe. After a Minnesota goal made the score 2-1 in favor of Minot, the Tauros scored three consecutive times with two goals coming from Blaine Warnert, and another from Kostelecky. By the second intermission, the Tauros had amassed a comfortable 5-1 advantage.

Each team added a goal in the third. At the 3:28 mark, Warnert earned his third goal of the evening and his 11th of the season. Defensively, Minot goaltender Keenan Rancier stopped 31 of 33 shots in the victory. Meanwhile, Minot plans to remain on the road and face Minnesota again on Saturday evening to wrap up the series.
