MSU’s Reynolds tied for 8th after first round at NSIC Championships

After the first round of play at the NSIC Men’s Golf Championships, senior Cody Reynolds is tied for eighth among the field after posting a round of four over par through 18 holes at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

Reynolds birdied six, and 16 and posted scores of 38 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine to enter the clubhouse after day one just five shots back of first place in the championship competition Minot State men’s golf as a team sits in sixth place after the opening 18 holes with a combined score of 26 over.

Easton Evanoff posted an impressive round with a five-over 76 including one birdie on 13. Only a slip up on 15, with a double bogey, stands in the way of Evanoff and the top 10 in the tournament with him sitting in a good spot tied for 14th.

Sid Ullyott posted an eight-over 79 which puts him tied for 24th, Andrew Makarchuk finished with a nine-over 80 which makes him tied for 29th, and Aimery Barrault recorded a 16 over 87 and is 46th after the opening round.

The Beavers will be back in action Saturday with the second round of the NSIC Men’s Golf Championships continuing from Shoal Creek Golf Club at 9 a.m. The third and final round will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.

The top five golfers will be named NSIC All-Tournament, while the team champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional, which will be played at Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri hosted by William Jewell College and the Kansas City Sports Commission on May 6-8.
