Velva and Bishop Ryan fall short of state title game

On Saturday, the Velva Aggies (10-1) and Bishop Ryan Lions (9-3) saw their seasons come to an end in

the Class A semifinal round.

For Velva, they were defeated on the road by Lisbon 44-20. Aggies’ senior quarterback Jersey Selzler

accounted for three all-purpose touchdowns, including a pair of touchdown passes to fellow senior Gage

Florence. Selzler also threw for a two-point conversion in defeat.

As for Bishop Ryan, they were ousted from the playoffs by Langdon-Edmore Munich by a final score of

55-27. It marks the second consecutive year Bishop Ryan concludes their season with a playoff loss to

Langdon.

Up next in the Class A tournament, two-time defending state champion Langdon will take on Lisbon in

the Dakota Bowl, which will be played at the Fargodome on Friday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m.

In Class AA, St. Mary’s will play Beulah for the championship later that day, and Bismarck Century will

square off against West Fargo Sheyenne for the Dakota Bowl crown in Class AAA competition on Friday.

In 9-man football, it will be Linton-HMB against Cavalier for the state title. All four state championship

games will be played at the Fargodome.
