Knights outshine the Stars in region tournament

Ciara Parizek/MDN Knights Calli Weekley, left in black, and Eden Olson, right in black, jump to block the ball that was sent flying over the net by Sabra Peterson, purple, from the Bottineau Stars.

Our Redeemer’s Christian School took the shine from the Bottineau Stars in the regional tournament game on Tuesday evening 3-0. The final set scores were 25-11, 25-19 and 25-12.

Kendal Braun, the Knights’ libero, was all smiles after the game.

“It’s always fun to start off the regional tournament,” she said. “There’s a lot of fun getting to another game and we’re excited for those.”

Braun thought they did well offensively and systematically. They communicated well during the game, calling tips, pushes and who had the ball, but she mentioned that their communication could always be improved upon.

Middle hitter Calli Weekley also thought everyone played well, during the game against Bottineau and during the district tournament. ORCS won the district championship against the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers last week.

“It was really exciting and a really fun match,” Weekley said about the game against DLB. “I think we have really improved from the beginning of the season to now. I’m happy to see what comes next.”

Our Redeemer’s will be playing against Velva tonight against the Velva Aggies in the new gym at 7 p.m.

In addition, Kendal Braun will be signing a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Minot State University on Friday afternoon.
