Minot takes second at Mandan Invite: Price claims top spot in diving event

On Saturday, Oct. 17, the Minot Majettes swim club came away with a team score of 402 at the Mandan Invite, second only to Bismarck Century, who won the overall competition by posting a point total of 584 to pace the eight-team field.

There were many highlights for Minot that afternoon; among them, junior Bella Price showcased her skills in the one-meter dive by registering a first place score of 424.20. Meanwhile, teammate Haley Conklin, an eighth-grader, was not far behind with a third place total of 405.10.

In other individual action from the meet, Minot’s Jordn Wolsky took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.92 seconds, and also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:21.07. Seventh-grader Sam Vonbokern represented Minot in the 50-yard freestyle with a third place effort (26.15), and Emily Brugman and Elise Altringer each earned fourth place finishes in the 500-yard free, and the 100-yard breaststroke respectively. While Brugman clocked in at 5:50.88, Altringer posted a time of 1:13.51.

In relay competition, Minot was also well represented among the top performers. Wolsky Altringer, Olivia Schuchard and Erin Palmer teamed up to earn second in the 400-yard free (3:43.27). In addition, the combination of Wolsky, Altringer, Vonbokern and Payton Luzardo earned second in the 200-yard medley, completing the race in 1:59.39. Luzardo, a junior, also grouped up with a young quartet consisting freshman Reese Goodman, eighth-grader Gabby Olson and Vonbokern to take third in the 200-yard free with a final time of 1:48.98.

Up next for the Minot swim team, they are scheduled to host Williston for a dual on Senior Night, Tuesday, Oct. 20. Start time for the meet is slated for 5 p.m.
