The Minot High School volleyball night won a thrilling 3-1 match against No. 4-ranked Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday evening for a memorable senior night performance.

The Majettes (3-3) won by set scores by 26-24, 25-23, 15-25, 25-19.

“We were scrappy and aggressive for most of the night,” MHS head coach Sherry Carlson said. “We faltered some in the third set but recovered right away in the fourth.”

Senior outside hitter Morgan Wheeler filled the stat sheet for the Majettes with a team-high 11 kills, 14 digs, three aces and three blocks.

She was one of seven seniors to be recognized alongside Reese Terrel, Paige Ackerman, Jenna Hardy, Preslie Everson and Ana Morelli. Plus student manager Delaney Fried.

“I think the biggest thing tonight was the support from the bench and our next ball mentality,” Morelli said. “(We had) a positive mindset uplifting each other all night.”

Ackerman finished with 18 assists with Cambry Frantsvog chipping in 15 more. Terrel was all over the court, racking up 22 digs.

Legacy came into the contest with a 5-1 overall record and the No. 4 state ranking in the most recent NDAPSSA Media Poll.

Majettes volleyball returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday when they host Bismarck High.
