Majettes golf slips down to seventh at Legacy Invite

BISMARCK — The Minot High School girls golf team struggled to keep up Tuesday evening at the Riverwood Golf Course.

The Majettes shot a 380 to place seventh out of nine teams at the Legacy Invite. Bismarck Century (337) won its fourth straight meet, followed by Mandan (355) and Bismarck High (363).

“Tough day for the Majettes,” MHS head coach Scott Foltz said.

The meet was one of two state qualifier meets this regular season. Any golfer who shot 92 or lower earned a spot at the state meet.

Minot qualified two golfers: seniors Taryn Trueblood (87) and Bella Dobrinski (89). Trueblood played as an independent on Tuesday, so her team-high 10th place score didn’t count in the Majettes’ team score.

Those making up Minot’s team score included Dobrinski, senior Savanah Brintnell (95), junior Avery Falcon (97) and freshman Cali Wilson (99).

Addison Sorenson (94), Syndi Gartner (103) and Mackenzie Strange (112) also golfed for Minot.

“No one was really able to string shots together for a good score,” Foltz said.

Medalist honors went to Century’s Hannah Herbel. She shot a 77 to beat Williston’s Carrie Carmichael by one stroke. Herbel, a sophomore, has won all four WDA meets this season.

Next up, the fifth WDA meet will be the Mandan Invite next Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Prairie West Golf Course.

“Need to bounce back for next Tuesday in Mandan,” Foltz said.

The Majettes will host another state qualifier meet at the Vardon Golf Club the following week on Sept. 18.
