Local HS football results: Sept. 18

Sept. 18 marked the fifth week of the high school football season in North Dakota. Below are capsule game summaries for two local contests across the region. The game recaps for Dickinson at Minot High and Velva vs. Bishop Ryan in Nedrose can be found online at minotdailynews.com.

Class A

Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich 48, Harvey/Wells County 16

HARVEY — The number 20 proved fruitful for the Cardinals (5-0, 3-0 Region 2) on Friday night. Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich put up 20 points apiece in the second and third quarters in the contest against the Hornets (2-3, 1-2 Region 2).

After senior quarterback Simon Romfo ripped off a 68-yard run in the first quarter, LAEM turned on the jets in the second frame. Romfo tossed three touchdown passes in the period.

Cooper Zimmer hauled in two of those scores, while Grant Romfo snagged the other. In the third quarter, the quarterback accounted for three more touchdowns.

LAEM did not score in the fourth quarter, but the margin was insurmountable. Madden Thorson and Carson Mertz scored the Hornets’ two touchdowns.

6-Man

Drake/Anamoose 64, Alexander 18

DRAKE — The Drake/Anamoose Raiders moved to 4-0 overall with a lopsided win over Alexander (1-3). It’s the second time Drake/Anamoose has defeated Alexander this season. The Raiders won 67-0 during Week 1 of the season.

Drake/Anamoose scored 30 points in the first quarter. Payton Martin scored twice on the ground and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Nickelson. Matthew Jund also scored a 40-yard touchdown run.

Alexander got on the board late in the first quarter with a 34-yard fumble return by Lane Rider.

Nickelson took over in the second quarter with three touchdown runs of 40, 40 and 10 yards for the Raiders.

The third quarter featured a 36-yard touchdown run by Drake/Anamoose’s Hunter Fletschock. Alexander scored twice on a 40-yard pass from Max Heen to Keaton Werhman and a 60-yard run from Randall Gowing.
