Majettes golf tees off season with second place at Jamestown Invite

JAMESTOWN — The Minot High School girls golf team started the new season strong with a second-place finish at the Jamestown Invite at the Jamestown Country Club.

Bismarck Century won with a team score of 336, aided by sophomore Hannah Herbal shooting a three-under-par 69 to win medalist honors. Minot High slotted in three shots back at 339. Hosts Jamestown (344) rounded out the podium.

The Majettes placed three golfers inside the top 10. Senior Savanah Brintnell shot an even 80 for fifth place, followed by junior Addison Sorenson (83, tied sixth) and senior Bella Dobrinski (85, tied 10th).

No one in the field could keep up with Herbel. She finished nine shots better than her teammate Riley Crothers who earned runner-up honors by shooting a 78. Jamestown’s Kyra Vogel and Williston’s Carrie Carmichael tied for third place with a pair of 79s.

Freshman Cali Wilson completed Minot’s team score with a 91. Senior Taryn Trueblood (93) and junior Avery Falcon (93) also golfed for the Majettes.

The WDA teams make the trip to Bismarck for the Bismarck High Invite this afternoon at the Tom O’Leary Golf Course.
