Majettes golf captures second-place finish at Bismarck Invite

BISMARCK — After earning second place at the Jamestown Invite on Monday, the Minot High School girls golf team recorded another second-place showing at Tuesday’s Bismarck Invite at Tom O’Leary Golf Course.

Minot recorded a team score of 355, one stroke off Bismarck Century’s winning score of 354. Century’s Hannah Herbel won her second consecutive individual medal with a final score of 79.

The Majettes battled sweltering heat and challenging greens throughout the day.

“Distance off the tee is not our strong point right now, so the course played long for us today,” MHS head coach Scott Foltz said. “Smallish greens, which rolled pretty fast by the end of the tournament, challenged our putting. The girls found themselves trying to get up and down much of the round.”

Freshman Cali Wilson (86) posted the Majettes’ lowest score. Senior Bella Dobrinski (88) and junior Avery Falcon (89) also shot in the eighties.

According to Foltz, Wilson and Falcon tied their personal-best varsity scores. Senior Savanah Brintnell rounded out the Majettes’ top scores with a 92.

Minot will play at 9 a.m. next Monday in the Dickinson Invite at Pheasant Country Golf Course in South Heart.
