Editor’s note: The teammate tag is a series of eight questions designed to test how well two teammates know each other. Each athlete answers four questions about themselves and then attempts to predict their teammate’s answers to four different questions.

Corbin Okeson and Keegan Henjum are former Bishop Ryan athletes. Okeson and Henjum played football and wrestled together at Ryan.

Q: When you think about this past football season, what is the first game that comes to mind?

Okeson answer: “The first game that comes to mind is the state championship game. It was the last game.”

Henjum guess: “The Velva game. Winning in the semifinals.”

Okeson reaction: “Yeah, we had lost to them before. We got redemption on their home field. It was crazy. I swear we had more fans than they did at home.”

Q: What NFL player inspires you on the field?

Okeson answer: “That’s hard. My favorite player is Patrick Mahomes. I love to watch him because of his showmanship.”

Henjum guess: “JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Steelers wide receiver. He has his football jersey that he wears around all the time.”

Okeson reaction: “I like JuJu a lot. He’s fun to watch.”

Q: Who is an underrated wrestler on the Lions?

Okeson answer: “Octavio Alvarez. He was new to the team. Nobody really knew a whole lot about him. He didn’t get a whole lot of attention, but he deserves a lot.”

Henjum guess: “Lane Cooper, our 106-pounder this year. He wasn’t always at the top of the podium every weekend, but he beat some very key wrestlers.”

Okeson reaction: “I like Lane a lot. Octavio just got here. No one really knows about him. He was our secret weapon. They were both really good this year.”

Q: As you continue your wrestling career, what do you believe was the best team win from high school?

Okeson answer: “Honestly, I feel like it was this year in the dual championships when we beat Pembina County.”

Henjum guess: “Beating Carrington this year at state. That was the best team win.”

Okeson reaction: “I was going to say either of those two. We pulled a fast one on Carrington. The coach from Carrington, he’s the one who was there when they won all those championships.”

Q: You can choose to participate in either football or wrestling at the Fargodome. Which one would you select?

Henjum answer: “Football. It’s my favorite sport. It was just a crazy atmosphere when we played there.”

Okeson guess: “He would definitely choose football. There’s just something about him and football. He just loves it.”

Henjum reaction: “That’s my favorite sport. That’s why I’m moving on to play football in college, too.”

Q: Who is the most elusive quarterback you’ve tried to sack?

Henjum answer: “Jacob Svihovec from Bowman County. He was just a super-fast, long dude that could move out of the pocket at any second.”

Okeson guess: “I’m 1,000% positive. There’s no way around it. He would 100% say Simon Romfo, the quarterback from Langdon. Jacob Svihovec from Bowman, he was hard. Keegan could still get him. Simon, he was crazy.”

Henjum reaction: “Oh, OK. That other guy was just a little lengthier. That’s why I went with (Svihovec).”

Q: Who is the strongest wrestler you’ve faced?

Henjum answer: “I’d probably have to go with Max Defender from Northern Lights. He graduated last year. He was a big, meaty dude that could throw you around. Just a built guy.”

Okeson guess: “(Gavin Layton from Coon Rapids, Minnesota) was 6 feet, 9 inches. He’s going to play football somewhere. He was huge. He was at the Rumble on the Red.”

Henjum reaction: “He was pretty strong. I remember that one. I think he was No. 1 in Minnesota this year. I don’t know how he finished out.”

Q: As you put your wrestling career behind you, what individual wrestling match from high school stands out for you?

Henjum answer: “It probably sounds weird, but my semifinal match this year in the state tournament. This year was the best year I had.”

Okeson guess: “Last year, when he beat Kutter Blumhagen in the consolation wrestlebacks at state.”

Henjum reaction: “That was a pretty big win. I was seeded below him. I went to the fifth and sixth (match), and he went to seventh and eighth.”
